Palam Silks Back

The client

Palam is a brand that caters to the modern woman and encourages her to rediscover the beauty and elegance of the saree as a garment for all occasions. Influx has had a long association with Palam Silks and been closely involved with the design and promotion of their online presence.

The challenge

At the time we began working with Palam, they were perceived as traditional and even orthodox in their designs. They wanted to increase their market reach and become more visible to a wider audience through online selling.

We got creative

The first website we built for Palam Silks was their foray into ecommerce, but with only COD and no payment gateway. It was built on PHP along with HTML, CSS, and MySQL database.

The second website we built them was a fully responsive ecommerce website with payment gateway integration, using HTML and MySQL database. The UI/UX was carefully considered and devised to optimise the customer’s online buying experience. New features like a shipping calculator and store locator were introduced.

With technology ever-evolving, Palam agreed that they needed to revamp their website and apps to offer their customers an even better shopping experience. We have updated and revamped their website twice already and have just completed their third on Shopify. It sports an uncluttered look with an easy interface and enhanced usability.

Mobile apps

Back when we began revamping the Palam Silks brand, we also made alterations to the Android app they had and debugged it for easier use. We built them a new iOS app too.

We have just completed new apps for them using Shopify, a fully-hosted Ecommerce platform used to create websites and apps that sell online products with minimal fuss.

Palam’s Android app was built with Kotlin, an upcoming language in Android development. Kotlin is touted to be the future of Android development because of its inter-operability and tool-friendly advantages over Java.

For their iOS app, we used the latest version of Swift, which is easier in code maintenance and safer compared to Obj-C.
